General Position Summary:

The Incoming Quality Inspector performs first-article, internal, and final inspections of electronic components as well as creating and managing concise records which are audit-ready.

 

Essential functions and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors production standards by inspecting incoming materials, in-line assemblies, finished product, keeping accurate records and recording results.

  • Inspects incoming raw materials, mechanical parts and subassemblies; conducts visual and mechanical tests; writes and completes appropriate documentation to assure compliance with purchase order requirements and specifications.

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.

  • Performs in-process visual and mechanical inspection of hybrid and open frame parts as required to assure adherence to specifications and procedures.

  • Conducts final inspection of finished product to confirm all operations have been completed to Apex / customer specification and ensures that all required certifications and other documentation are in place for shipment.

  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing rework and waste; inputting data into quality database.

  • Maintains safe, clean and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

  • Monitors and interprets statistical process control data.

  • Assists and/or signs off on first article inspections

  • Understands and follows all applicable quality system procedures and performs all assigned responsibilities outlined in the system.

  • Following established procedures consistently.

  • Assists the Quality Manager and Operations Director in any capacity necessary.

  • Performs other related duties as requested or required.

Job requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills to support internal and external (vendor) communication.

  • Ability to use measuring equipment and other equipment to support incoming inspection of materials.

  • Ability to read mechanical, electronic drawings, component and procurement documents, and quality specification.

  • Ability to be detail-oriented and keep accurate records and files; suitable for audit purposes.

  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.

  • Strong knowledge and skill level in Microsoft office-based programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.

  • Ability to meet strict weekly deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high-school diploma or equivalent

  • Three (3) years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hybrid assembly i.e., substrate attach, die attach, wirebond, final processing

  • Knowledge of ISO-9001-2008 requirements with knowledge of MIL-PRF-38534 and related standards.

  • Three (3) years’ related experience reading and interpreting Military specifications, i.e., MIL-PRF-38534 to include experience with Group A, B, C, and D levels.

  • Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action; including 8D, 5Y, fishbone, and other problem solving tools required
