General Position Summary:

The Product Test Engineer will be responsible for specification, development and support of automated test and laser trim solutions for both new product introductions and legacy products.


Essential functions and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop production test systems for monolithic, hybrid and open-frame products.
  • Prepare comprehensive test requirements, plans, procedures, and hardware to be utilized in a manufacturing operation.
  • Develop reusable object oriented test software.
  • Establish software rigor to ensure repeatable source/revision control.
  • Work with design engineers, technician, and marketing personnel to develop a comprehensive test solution at minimal cost.
  • Work with design, QA, and manufacturing teams to maintain quality standards.
  • Regularly communicate with cross functional team on status and raise critical issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain integrity, serviceability, and calibration of both manual and automated in-house qualification test stations.
  • Perform other related duties as requested or required.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Understanding of safety requirements while working with or around high voltage and/or high current test systems
  • Knowledge of analog systems and op amps.
  • Knowledge of power analog and power op amps preferred.
  • Ability to generate test development schedules and execute to those schedules in support of product development programs.
  • Effective communication and organization skills to coordinate efforts between various departments including Design, Quality, Manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering
  • Three (3) years’ experience in test engineering in an automated production environment.
  • Experience in test engineering in an automated production environment.
  • Experienced in test equipment control and data acquisition.
  • Experience with GPIB interface
  • Gage R&R and Correlation experience.
  • Proficient with object oriented programming or scripting languages including VB6 / VB.net, Python or Perl.
  • Familiarity with digital interfaces including, Ethernet, SPI, RS-485, I2C.
  • Experienced user of test equipment including Vector Network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Change documentation and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years’ experience in test engineering in an automated production environment.
  • Experience with C/C++, SQL/ /.
  • Experienced in software development in a team environment under source/revision control.
  • Familiarity with Laser trimming or active laser trim processes.
